This piece came about from talking to a stranger on a bench. He told me of his friend who was a journalist who went to Mauritania. After hearing what he had gone through I asked my friend what was his purpose for doing it, he told me it was to raise awareness to stop slavery in Mauritania I was so shocked by this, I made a 4 colour screen print to raise awareness of the issue. I enjoy screen printing, as it is about time and labour which is a big part of my practice as is repetition and process. To me this adds value and meaning to the work. Its the labour of love.
